Wordsworth was born and raised in Cumbria, and had his love of writing and poetry instilled into him at Hawkshead Grammar School. His long countryside walks inspired his early work before he left the Lake District to go to Cambridge. He then spent several years traveling around England and Europe, returning to the Lakes in 1799 never to leave again.
